THANK-YOU, BOB! I had the honor and privilege of working for this team which was part of Mike Lardy's 2007 Pre-National Training Group. Bob is a very kind, Clark Kent kind of guy who saw me throwing bumpers for two of my dogs during a break and immediately offered to throw for us. Thanks again, Bob! I just might have to bronze those bumpers!
LUANN PLEASANT, owner of Red Rover Retrievers in Oakdale, CA.Luann was my gateway person to 2007 Pre-National Training in the Oakdale area and my mentor in how to treat Retriever Royalty. Actually, I found all these folks to be very down-to-earth, easy-to-get-along-with people who treated 'the help' like royalty! All of the handlers were considerate and helpful to one another (although the teasing could be brutal), which I believe was quite a blessing in what could have been a very stressful time.
MIKE LARDY'S GROUP (12 dogs):For letting me assist you by live gunning, wingering, working the Line, and allowing ME to fill YOU in on a few things: like what "Yad" means in Hebrew and instant footbridge-building so no one needed water boots! Plus:Dan Partington and Ray Voigt, my partners at the live gunner stations. Christie Gaither, who threw for my dogs after the Group headed out to THEevent and Team Tenacular headed on to a hunt test in southern California.
THE ROREM-ECKETT GROUP (20 dogs):For letting me watch you guys work for one another and for letting me tend to your dogs' feet. You can continue to call me "Foot Lady" if you wish!Plus: Paulette Rorem, who later shared with me the big hotel room secret!
Hey, sports fans, that's a whopping 32 out of the 90 dogs who made it to the 2007 National!
BILLY SARGENTI'S GROUP: For giving me the option to work for you. I'm sorry I didn't have the time to take you up on it. I hope I can have a raincheck!
Thank-you all for your roles in making November 2007 one of the best months of my life! Yeah, yeah...It would have been even better if one of the Tenacular Dogs made it to the National; but, heck, we don't even run field trials (yet)!
For a detailed report on the seven-day, 10-series event, please open:National on WRC.
